Established in 1997, the temple was inspired by the revered guru, Late Dr. K.V. Raghava Rao, also known as Raoji. Under the sponsorship of his disciples, Drs. Ratna Devi and Purnachandra Yerneni of Louisiana, the temple took shape in a humble rented barn, guided by a divine calling.

Despite being located in a small town with a limited Indian community, the temple quickly became a spiritual center, attracting devotees from across Florida. In 2002, with generous land donations and dedicated efforts from the local Sai community, the temple was relocated to its permanent site. By 2005, the new temple was inaugurated with grand celebrations, drawing over 2,000 devotees from different states.

Today, the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Inverness continues to serve as a vital place of worship, offering religious, cultural, and educational programs rooted in Sai Baba’s teachings. The temple hosts Hindu festivals, rituals, and community service initiatives, preserving and promoting Sai Baba’s message of love, faith, and selfless service. With ongoing expansion plans, the temple strives to provide devotees with an experience reminiscent of a pilgrimage to Shirdi, India.
