Located on the Medavakkam-Tambaram Main Road in South Chennai, the Shirdi Sai Mandir in Gowrivakkam is a divine abode for Sai devotees. Constructed in the year 2000 by the founder, Mr. Kulasekara Perumal, this temple holds a unique feature: Sai is worshiped here in the form of a goddess, affectionately called Saima. Devotees can witness Sai Maharaj adorned as a queen, complete with silk sarees, ornaments, and traditional jewelry.
Mr. Kulasekara Perumal, initially a non-devotee of Sai, experienced a miraculous transformation during an official trip to Shirdi. Guided by Sai in various forms—first as a stranger and later as a young boy—he was led through a series of divine interventions that culminated in his deep devotion to Sai. Upon his retirement in 1986, Mr. Perumal dedicated his life to serving Sai.
In a dream, Sai instructed Mr. Perumal to build a temple, promising him guidance every step of the way. Despite financial and logistical challenges, Sai ensured the temple’s construction with continuous divine support. The temple’s design, materials, and even its paint colors were believed to be guided by Sai’s will. The temple’s Kumbabishekam was completed on August 27, 2000.
