The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple stands as a beacon of faith and devotion, with its foundation stone laid on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami, October 13, 2005, by Sri Shirdi Sai Seva Trust (R). The idol of Sai Baba, specially sculpted in Jaipur, arrived on Vijayadashami in 2007. Notably, all significant milestones in the temple’s history have taken place on Vijayadashami, which coincides with the Samadhi Day of Sai Baba, adding to the sanctity of the temple.
The temple is a three-story structure, meticulously designed to house multiple shrines and sacred areas that enhance the spiritual experience of devotees.
The ground floor houses the Ganapati Temple on the left and the Dattatreya Temple on the right. A meditation hall is also present, providing a serene space for devotees to connect with the divine. One of the most significant features is the Dhuni (Sacred Fire), which burns continuously, symbolizing purity and devotion. Adjacent to this, the Saikoti Sthupa, a unique structure, is enclosed within 12-foot-high walls filled with sacred mud from Shirdi. Inside the walls, countless handwritten Saikoti inscriptions (the repeated writing of ‘Sairam’) are preserved on Panchaloha (a combination of gold, silver, copper, steel, and iron plates) as well as in notebooks. The idol of Sai Baba is installed above this sacred foundation, ensuring that his divine presence resonates throughout the temple.
The first floor features a spacious hall with a large stage that houses Sai Baba’s statue, his Samadhi, and the revered Padukas. Devotees gather here for prayers, bhajans, and religious discourses, making it a hub of spiritual activities.
The second floor is home to three sacred Peetas, making this temple unique in the world. These include:
Dattatreya Peeta (9 Feet)
Dakshinamoorthy Peeta (18 Feet)
Sai Peeta (36 Feet)
Each Peeta is adorned with gold-plated Kalashas of varying heights—2.5 feet, 2 feet, and 3 feet, respectively. These Kalashas were ceremoniously installed, and the Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ritual) was performed on October 9, 2008, once again aligning with the sacred day of Vijayadashami.
The grand inauguration of the temple took place between October 5 and October 9, 2008. During these days, Prana Prathistapana (installation of the deity) and Kumbhabhishekam rituals were performed for the deities of Ganapati, Dattatreya, and Shirdi Sai Baba.
A series of divine occurrences marked the inauguration:
On October 6, 2008, the day of Sai Baba’s idol installation, the temple witnessed heavy rainfall, which was considered a celestial blessing.
On October 8, 2008, during the installation of the Kalasha on the Sanctum Sanctorum, an eagle (Garuda Vahana) was seen flying in a clockwise direction three times over the temple, a rare and sacred sign in Hindu beliefs.
On October 9, 2008, following the Prana Prathistapana and Mahaprasadam distribution, a brief two-minute rainfall further solidified the belief in the temple’s divine sanctity.
The temple’s Dhuni, an eternal sacred fire, was kindled using embers from the Budigere Sai Baba Temple on October 8, 2008. This continuous fire represents Sai Baba’s teachings of selfless service and devotion, providing a focal point for prayers and blessings.
