Details of the Temple

For a long period, the Sai devotees in Vancouver, BC had been desirous of constructing a unique Shirdi Sai Mandir in the city. It was after ten years of further waiting and hard work that this dream started turning into reality. With encouragement from Baba and guided by devotion, a committed group of persons started the task of constructing a holy place for Him.

Pondering over the words of Baba, “If you take one step towards me, I will move ten steps closer to you,” the devotees felt certain that with Baba’s guidance and their strenuous effort, they would establish a Shirdi Sai temple. The hard work actually paid off when a temple opened in Surrey, BC, which, since February 2022, has been open to devotees.

Activities of the Temple

Sai Chitra Yatra:

Drawing inspiration from Shirdi Sai Baba’s words, “There is no difference between Me and My picture,” the temple facilitates the “Sai Chitra Yatra.” This program allows devotees to invite a portrait of Shri Sai into their homes for a week, fostering a deeper connection through daily rituals like pooja, reading of the Sai Satcharitra, and bhajans.

Vishnu Sahasranaam Path:

Recognizing Shirdi Sai Baba’s profound belief in the Vishnu Sahasranaam, the temple hosts a chanting session on the third Saturday of each month. This powerful chant, honoring Lord Vishnu with his thousand names, is led by the dedicated Sai Lehari Group.

Naam Japa:

Following Sai Baba’s emphasis on “Nama Smaran” (divine remembrance), the temple conducts monthly Nama Japa sessions. These evenings begin with chanting the Sai Tarak Maha Mantra (“Om Sai Sri Sai Jai Jai Sai”) followed by the Hanuman Chalisa and additional bhajans. Graciously led by Sai Eshwari ji, these sessions provide a powerful opportunity for spiritual connection.

Sai Satcharitra Parayan:

During major temple events, the Sai Temple in Surrey facilitates the reading of the Sai Satcharitra, a sacred text chronicling Shirdi Sai Baba’s life and teachings. Authored by Hemadpant (Shri Govindrao Raghunath Dabholkar), the book comprises 51 chapters filled with stories, notes, and Baba’s earthly experiences. This revered text offers devotees the opportunity to delve deeper into Baba’s wisdom.
